Who We Are

At Beechmont Community Orchard, we turn empty spaces into places where food and friendships grow. Located in the Beechmont Neighborhood of Louisville, Kentucky, we’re all about bringing people together to plant, cook, and share.

Our work started by transforming unused areas—like an old parking lot—into gardens full of life. Thanks to our amazing volunteers, these spaces now provide fresh food and a sense of community for everyone.

We believe in sharing skills and knowledge to help our neighbors grow their own food, cook healthy meals, and connect with each other. Whether it’s trading seeds, learning new recipes, or preserving food for the future, we’re here to support each other.

With the help of our donors, we’re able to keep growing and reaching more people. Together, we’re making a difference for families who need it most, creating a neighborhood that’s strong, connected, and thriving.

Join us! Let’s grow food, build friendships, and create something beautiful together.

Beechmont Community Orchard Acknowledgement

We recognize the land upon which the orchard sits (now known as Kentucky) is primarily Shawnee, Cherokee, Osage, Seneca-Iroquois, Miami, Hopewell and Adena land. We acknowledge the ongoing legacy of colonialism that continues to permeate our nation today, and our role in perpetuating the dominance of white, European culture. We honor the original native inhabitants of Kentucky, those who perished as a direct result of our nation's history of violence toward and dehumanizing of native peoples, and we recognize the thousands of Native Americans who are still living in Kentucky today.
